La rapera estadounidense Cardi B acaba de lanzar ‘Up’, su nuevo single acompañado del correspondiente videoclip, convirtiéndose en tendencia a nivel mundial. Es el segundo adelanto, tras el gran éxito de ‘WAP’ con Megan Thee Stallion, de su próximo álbum.
‘Up’, otro corte de hip-hop en su estilo, ha sido compuesto por Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar (Cardi B), Edit Selmani, James D. Steed, Jordan Thorpe, Joshua Baker y Matthew “Sean Island” Allen y producido por DJ SwanQo, Sean Island y Yung Dza. Sobre el tema, la artista comentó lo siguiente: “Quería una canción más de barrio. Siento que mi última canción [‘WAP’] era demasiado sexy. Quería hacer algo más gangsta, más chulesco”. El vídeo oficial ha sido dirigido por Tanu Muino y en las imágenes podemos verla desplegar su arsenal de pelucas y trajes extravagantes. En sólo 12 horas lleva más de 4 millones de vistas.
Es el primer tema que no es una colaboración desde 2019, cuando lanzó ‘Press’ y justo después del enorme éxito de ‘WAP’ junto a Megan Thee Stallion en 2020 que fue #1 en USA, UK y más países, funcionando también en España con 11 millones de streams computables. Ambos temas estarán incluido en su esperado segundo disco, retrasado por la pandemia, los problemas de su relación amorosa con el también rapero Offset además de otros proyectos cinematográficos y televisivos.
La también compositora y actriz Cardi B, criada en El Bronx, empezó en 2013 a ganar popularidad en las redes sociales y en 2015 alcanzó la fama protagonizando la 6ª temporada del reality «Love & Hip Hop: New York». En 2017 debutó con el single ‘Bodak Yellow’ (#1 en Estados Unidos), continuando el éxito con los sencillos ‘No Limit’, ‘MotorSport’ y ‘Finesse’, hasta el lanzamiento de su álbum debut «Invasion of Privacy» (2018) que recibió el premio Grammy al mejor álbum de rap e incluía el hit ‘I Like It’. También ha destacado por sus colaboraciones con Maroon 5 ( ‘Girls like you’ ), Bruno Mars, Anuel AA, Ed Sheeran, etc.
