El rapero estadounidense Lil Nas X presenta ‘Industry baby’, su nuevo single acompañado del correspondiente videoclip tras el éxito mundial de ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’. Es otro adelanto de su primer álbum que está previsto se publique próximamente.
‘Industry baby’ ha sido compuesta por David Biral, Denzel Baptiste, Jack Harlow, Montero Hill (Lil Nas X) y Nick Lee bajo la producción dejTake A Daytrip y Kanye West, contando con la colaboración del rapero y compositor estadounidense Jack Harlow. En el vídeo musical,dirigido por Christian Breslaue, la acción se traslada a una prisión estatal americana en la que el cantante hace pesas y baila en las duchas esperando poder escaparse gracias a la ayuda de Harlow.
El single viene acompañado además de una campaña benéfica del cantante junto a The Bail Project, una organización nacional sin ánimo de lucro cuya misión es acabar con la fianza en metálico, uno de los principales motores del encarcelamiento masivo y del racismo estructural en el sistema jurídico penal de Estados Unidos, con lo cuál a través de ella espera animar a otros artistas a unirse a él en esta lucha. Lil ha declarado: «es un asunto personal porque conozco el dolor que el encarcelamiento trae a las familias y el impacto desproporcionado que la libertad bajo fianza acarrea en la población afroamericana y a la comunidad LGBTQ».
Lil Nas X, alías Montero Lamar Hill (su nombre real), es un rapero de Atlanta que saltó al estrellato en 2019 con su canción ‘Old Town Road’ (dos premios Grammy’s) y declararse abiertamente homosexual en las fiestas del Orgullo Gay de 2019 (algo muy raro en el mundo del rap). Desde entonces se ha prodigado poco, un EP donde colaboraban Cardi B, Billy Ray Cyrus y Travis Baker además de un sencillo con DaBaby, ‘Panini’ (2019), otro con Nas, ‘Rodeo’ (2019) y ‘Holiday’ (2020).
La canción sucede al polémico éxito ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’, publicada el pasado mes de marzo (que ha sido #1 en EE.UU., U.K., Australia, Canadá, Francia y otros países) y a ‘Sun goes down’. Se espera con expectación el lanzamiento de “MONTERO”, su primer álbum.
