Years & Years presenta ‘Starstruck’ acompañado del correspondiente videoclip. El tema se edita como primer single de presentación del tercer trabajo discográfico del ahora proyecto en solitario liderado por su vocalista británico Olly Alexander.
‘Starstruck‘ fue escrito por Olly Alexander, Clarence Coffee Jr., Mark Ralph y Nathaniel Ledwidgees y con producción de Mark Ralph & Nathaniel Ledwidge. El vídeo musical ha sido dirigido por Fred Rowson y muestra al cantante en una peculiar persecución consigo mismo entre largos pasillos y elegantes salas de un gran hotel.
Olly ha comentado: “‘Starstruck’ trata sobre el subidón que sientes cuando estás con alguien que te gusta de verdad, se trata de aferrarse a un buen sentimiento y no dejarlo escapar. Como la mayoría de nosotros, he pasado el último año en casa y quería crear algo súper positivo y divertido para que la gente (y yo mismo) lo acompañara. Hagamos lo que hagamos o estemos donde estemos en la vida, creo que todos nos merecemos tres minutos de éxtasis interestelar”.
Years & Years anunciaba hace unas semanas que la formación de la banda continuará como un proyecto único liderado por Olly Alexander, aunque sus otros miembros Emre Turkmen y Mikey Goldsworthy seguirán estando estrechamente conectados al grupo en un papel secundario. Este nuevo álbum llegará después del éxito de la serie de HBO «It’s a Sin» en la que Olly interpreta a su protagonista e incluso llegó a versionar el mítico tema de los Pet Shop Boys de igual título.
Years & Years comenzó como trío de música electrónica en 2015, siendo integrado por Olly Alexander y los instrumentistas Mikey Goldsworthy y Emre Türkmen. Saltaron a la fama tras ganar la encuesta de “BBC, Sound of…” y publicar ese mismo año su álbum debut “Communion” que produjo los éxitos ‘King’ y ‘Shine’. Posteriormente lanzaron su segundo disco, “Palo Santo” (2019).
