El rapero estadounidense Lil Nas X presenta ‘MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)’ , su nuevo single que está llamado a convertirse en un nuevo éxito viral tras la polémica desatada por el videoclip que le acompaña.
‘MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)‘ está producida por los ya habituales Take a Daytrip (Denzel Baptiste, David Biral) junto a Omer Fedi y Roy Lenzo. El vídeo musical lo ha dirigido él mismo junto a Tanu Muino, con dirección creativa y estilismo de Hodo Musa. En las imágenes narra su salida del armario con alusiones bíblicas al pecado de Adán y Eva, al cielo y al infierno e incluso referencias a la cultura clásica grecorromana, inspirandose en pasajes del Génesis de la Biblia para hablar de una relación entre dos hombres y con Satán como protagonista. Además, también ha recibido críticas por copiar elementos visuales del video ‘Cellophane’ de Fka Twigs y sonidos del «Mal querer» de Rosalía.
Así se describe el tema por el propio artista: “Querido Montero de 14 años, he escrito una canción con nuestro nombre. En ella hablo de un tío que conocí el verano pasado. Sé que prometimos no salir del armario públicamente, sé que prometimos no ser ‘ese’ tipo de persona gay, sé que prometimos morir con ese secreto, pero esto abrirá puertas para otras muchas personas queer para que simplemente puedan existir”.
Lil Nas X, alías Montero Lamar Hill (su nombre real), es un rapero de Atlanta que saltó al estrellato en 2019 con su canción ‘Old Town Road’ (dos premios Grammy’s) y declararse abiertamente homosexual en las fiestas del Orgullo Gay de 2019 (algo muy raro en el mundo del rap). Desde entonces se ha prodigado poco, un Ep donde colaboraban Cardi B, Billy Ray Cyrus y Travis Baker además de un sencillo con DaBaby, ‘Panini’ (2019), otro con Nas, ‘Rodeo’ (2019) y ‘Holiday’ (2020).
